About
Sunshine Therapy LLC
Sunshine was a nickname I received in kindergarten, inspired by my middle and last name - Sun and Shi (shy). My parents grew up in China where it is not customary to have a middle name and so they used my mom's surname.
Sunshine has become a meaningful symbol to me, representing a powerful source of growth and warmth. As a therapist I am warm, authentic, humorous, and supportive.
Sunshine Therapy LLC offers Individual, Family, and Couples therapy. I see kids (6+), teens, adults, and seniors. Currently, all sessions are offered via telehealth at this time.
Please note - because I work with families and students, my after-school hours are limited. If you need evening times, there may be a wait and I cannot guarantee ongoing, weekly evening hours.

It can be difficult to ask for help or seek therapy. I strongly believe that this discomfort can turn into growth. I prioritize creating a safe space to process life while working collaboratively towards goals.
I value being authentic and supportive in session, incorporating self-disclosure and humor when appropriate. In a typical session I offer validation, psychoeducation, problem solving, and self-compassion skills tailored to support clients with their specific goals. I value collaboration and feedback in my work.
I mostly use a strengths-based, solution-focused approach to therapy and find that this can be very empowering and supportive. I often reference my family systems training and Narrative Theory (incorporating analogies and offering reframes) as well. See About for more info on my therapy approach.
In my free time, I enjoy making art, reading, yoga, and cat snuggles.
